When staying at our care home in East Renfrewshire, no matter how long a resident’s stay is, we want you to feel happy and content with the care that you receive while you maintain as much freedom as possible.

Our care home is designed to allow residents to relax and recover during their stay and this period of time gives family members and caregivers the opportunity to decompress. Our team of professionals is available 24 hours a day and can respond to a wide range of personal or medical needs.

What is Respite Care?

When someone requires short-term care, respite care is considered the best option. Our care team is always there to assist residents with their needs and reduce as much stress as possible. A person might consider a temporary stay in a care home if they are recovering from a fall, an illness or the primary carer needs a well-earned break from their responsibilities. Residents will receive a personal care plan throughout their stay to ensure accurate and effective care.

Respite Care FAQs

The length of stay for respite care at Mearns View will vary depending on the needs of the individual and the availability of respite care beds. We can offer respite care from four weeks, up to a few months and the length of stay for each resident will be determined following an individual care assessment.

Respite care at Mearns View is available to individuals who require assistance with activities of daily living and when a caregiver needs a break from their caregiving responsibilities. If you believe your loved one needs full-time care, respite care can be used to trial our home for 4 weeks to see if it’s right for someone as a long-term solution.

During a person’s stay, the individual will receive assistance with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, mobility, and meal preparation. Nursing care may also be provided, depending on the individual’s medical needs. We also offer an activities programme that helps to promote mental, physical and emotional well-being.
