Joyful Beats and Sunshine at Mearns View Care Home

At Mearns View Care Home in Newton Mearns, we believe in creating uplifting moments that bring joy, movement and a bit of musical flair to daily life - and our recent drumming sessions certainly hit the right note!

Residents have been taking part in engaging indoor and outdoor drumming classes that blend rhythm, song and laughter. Equipped with an exciting variety of instruments including drums, maracas, tambourines, egg shakers, triangles and drumsticks – everyone was encouraged to join in, follow the beat and express themselves through sound.

The sessions were held in both our communal areas and, when the weather allowed, in the garden, where the sunshine added an extra burst of energy to the musical fun. There’s something undeniably therapeutic about making noise together, and residents thoroughly enjoyed singing, clapping and dancing along to the rhythm.

One of the highlights has been the sense of community these sessions bring. Whether someone is keeping time with a shaker or simply enjoying the atmosphere, everyone can participate in their own way. It’s a fantastic way to stay active, encourage movement, and stimulate the senses – all while having a brilliant time.

Music plays a big part in life at Mearns View, and we’re always exploring new ways to bring people together and brighten each day. These drumming workshops were such a success, we’re already planning more musical events in the near future.

Our residents described the experience as great fun, and we couldn’t agree more. It’s heartwarming to see smiles, hear laughter, and know that everyone is truly enjoying the moment.
