Mearns View Care home is very lucky to have beautifully landscaped gardens for its residents to enjoy indoor/outdoor living. The outside space that we have to offer allows our residents a secure place to have some exercise, enjoy the fresh air and appreciate all of the nature in our garden. Our garden is the perfect space for our residents to have some downtime to themselves or to have their loved ones around to socialise.
We are proud to offer a fully accessible and secure garden that residents can enjoy all year round. With multiple doors leading outside and plenty of rest areas dotted throughout, there’s always somewhere peaceful to sit and soak up the fresh air. The upper garden is wheelchair accessible, and our spacious patio is perfect for dining, relaxing, or hosting activities. We also have tables with umbrellas available so residents can stay comfortable in all kinds of weather.
Our gardens are designed to be a truly shared space. Residents have a say in what flowers and plants are grown, and we organise regular trips to the local garden centre so they can help choose new additions. There’s even a dedicated play area to make visits with children extra special, which is also located right next to our garden cafe!
Whenever the weather allows, we take almost every activity outside – from group games and gentle exercise sessions on the patio to arts and crafts, tea parties, and gardening activities. Being outside offers the perfect opportunity for residents to socialise, stay active, and enjoy a change of scenery, which is so beneficial for health and wellbeing.
Family and friends are always encouraged to join in too, making our garden a lively and social hub throughout the year. Our garden has wheelchair-accessible paths and seated furniture for those with restricted mobility. Our private garden is secure with proper fencing and gates, to prevent residents from wandering off or getting lost. We have well-maintained paths, lighting, and other safety features to prevent falls or other accidents.
